We stayed at Barhams Cartlodge as a family and hosted our wedding reception in the grounds of Higham Place after getting married at St Mary’s Church. It was such a special weekend and I cannot speak highly enough about the venue and accommodation. Not only is it an absolutely beautiful setting, but Chris went above and beyond to accommodate our wishes and make sure we had the perfect day. I would highly recommend Higham Place to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in a wonderful setting, or those who wish to mark a special celebration. A 5* venue!

Lovely 3 bed cottage, in a beautiful area of Suffolk. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We would definitely come back and visit.

We had a wonderful time at this delightful and roomy property. Our family and their partners came to join us. There is plenty of space for six adults and our dog. The garden is fully dog proof and there is lovely parkland adjoining the property. This was our first time cooking with an Aga and thanks to our expert cooks (partners) it was brilliant. Communication with the owners was very easy and they were most helpful. It is a lovely part of the world to visit.

A charming cottage benefitting from adjoining, beautiful parkland which is a real plus with dogs. Gardens and grounds are all very well maintained and the cottage is warm and comfortable. Lovely neighbouring countryside with walks to Dedham and Flatford Mill

We have just enjoyed our fifth stay in The Gildhall in Higham. We love the warmth and comfort of this beautiful period thatched cottage, and the views and walks from it’s own park, and beyond. My dogs enjoy every moment too, Plenty of space to run round the grounds and then home to a cosy kip in front of the aga. The kitchen is beautiful, And besides being very well equipped, it’s a pleasure to cook in and eat at the scrubbed table. Each room is tastefully appointed And really comfortably furnished. The only problem I have with The Gildhall is that I never want to leave! We are looking forward to our next visit already. Thank you Charlie and Chris.

We had a wonderful time… the cottage is delightful, warm and cosy yet plenty of space. The welcome pack was very generous and everything was super clean and comfy. Visited some lovely villages nearby .. the garden and huge adjoining parkland were fantastic for the dogs .. thoroughly recommend..

Incredible. Quite literally one of a kind, in a lovely little hamlet with access to some beautiful countryside and pubs in nearby villages. I'll be back in winter to try out the fireplace! It's a must stay for the floors upstairs alone...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Old Post Office in Higham, Suffolk, with my family and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience! The property is a beautiful historic building that exudes charm and character, while still offering all the modern amenities one could need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The location is perfect for exploring the surrounding countryside, with plenty of lovely walks and picturesque villages to discover nearby. And when you're ready to relax and unwind, the peaceful and tranquil setting of The Old Post Office provides the perfect retreat. The accommodation itself was spotlessly clean and well-appointed, with everything I needed to feel at home during my stay. The bed was beyond comfortable, the shower was excellent, and the kitchen was fully equipped with all the necessary appliances and utensils and the hamper was just perfect. We will definitely be back!!

this was booked for me as a birthday treat to spend with some family. On arrival, we were greeted by a lovely vase of fresh flowers and a beautiful hamper. The Lodge was like a tardis. Large rooms that seemed to appear at every turn. The 3 double bedrooms were all lovely and bright. All beds were so comfortable with plenty of pillows and towels. The kitchen was well equiped with a dishwasher and washing machine as well as the usual - oven, fridge freezer, toaster, microwave etc. The wall cupboards were quite high so I put all the treats on the shelves to make it harder for my daughter in law to reach them.... There was a family bathroom with bath & shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail - beautifully finished. I had a slight problem reaching the shower nozzle - must have had a tall builder - same one who put up the wall cupboards..... One of the bedrooms also had an en suite which was lovely and had a large shower cubicle. The house was lovely and warm and had a comfy, lived in, home from home feel. Considering most of the furnishings and carpets were white, dogs were welcome and there was an enclosed pet safe garden. The location of the lodge is ideal for days out to Felixstowe, Clacton, Colchester etc We had a lovely stay and would happily return.
